Kitchen Blues...

Here in beautiful West Wales blue is a special colour for us, absolutely nothing beats a fine day under a clear blue sky, looking out at the shimmering blue sea from one of our amazing beaches in Cardigan Bay.

Blue has also been one of the biggest trends for kitchen design over the last few years and it shows no sign of changing anytime soon.

Verve Light Blue Painted

Blue is a wonderful colour to use in interiors as it is known to aid relaxation and when used inside our homes it creates feelings of tranquility, space and luxury as well as actually helping to reduce stress levels.

Why not look at this cool shade if you are thinking of a new kitchen? We have some gorgeous shades of blue you can choose from at Emlyn Kitchens.

Picking the Perfect Blue

So how do you go about choosing the right shade for your kitchen? It all depends on the feel and style you are going for. If you want a classy classic or grander dark feel to your kitchen, you could go for our deep Oxford Blue or Indigo Blue.

These dark blues are really on point with current interior design trends.

If the look you want is a light, airy or beachy feel for your kitchen, the middle and lighter shades of blue are better. They promote the feeling of light and space in a kitchen, such as our Light Blue, Steel Blue, Sky Blue or Turquoise.

Lighter blues work especially well for smaller kitchens as they increase the feeling of space.

Mixing it up

Mixing colours in your kitchen is also a very popular trend.

One idea is to mix blue and grey as the two colours contrast perfectly, reinforcing the freshness and relaxing nature of blue. Light grey often works best, because it contrasts the blue beautifully.

For more of a contrast, Oxford or Indigo blue cabinets teamed with white or ivory always looks so smart. Oxford blue cabinets with white Limestone wall cupboards and marble white worktops are exactly what we have chosen for one of our kitchens in our new showroom in Newcastle Emlyn.
